How do you use this Ecos: La Brea guides map?
Use this hub as a map. Each child guide answers one search, then points sideways so you do not reread the same loop five times.
Which Ecos: La Brea guides are published?
First session in Ecos: La Brea
Start as a Western Horse or Dire Wolf, learn the menu and the January 2026 mark-key change, and leave tar and random codes alone.
Unlock Smilodon, Ancient Bison, and the Mammoth
Kill a Peccary for Smilodon, mark a predator as a horse for Ancient Bison, and finish the skeleton-and-fossil quest for the Columbian Mammoth.
Controls, menu, and the mark-key change
Use the published keyboard list, then rebind from the January 23, 2026 note: new players mark with Q, and herbivore call 2 no longer marks.
Hunt as a Dire Wolf or Saber-tooth Cat
Latch horses and bison as a Dire Wolf, pounce the front-left as a Smilodon, and use game trails when you still need a Peccary kill.
Survive as a horse, bison, or mammoth
Horses flee, bison charge and joust, and mammoths reshape the map. Spook now lasts until the threat is gone or you open a real gap.
Tracks, missions, and Instincts
Hourly hunt and forage missions, a 24-hour Instinct board of three quests, and migration or territory income are the three ways Tracks arrive.
Migration, territory, and tar
Herbivores rotate through two migration zones. Carnivores hold territory hexes. Everyone treats tar at Rancho La Brea and Arrowhead Hollow as a trap, not a shortcut.
Coats, tiers, and mutations
Default coats are free. The Track ladder runs 300, 500, 1000, and 3000, with some mutation coats priced off that ladder.
