Hourly hunt and forage missions, a 24-hour Instinct board of three quests, and migration or territory income are the three ways Tracks arrive.

Tracks, missions, and Instincts

Hourly hunt and forage missions, a 24-hour Instinct board of three quests, and migration or territory income are the three ways Tracks arrive.

Tracks buy coats. They are not a second health bar. The left menu shows how many you have, and a setting can show gains on the HUD.

Two different boards

Hourly missions and daily Instincts are different.

  • Carnivore missions, for Dire Wolf or Smilodon, have about a one-hour cooldown.
  • Herbivore missions, for Western Horse, Ancient Bison, or Columbian Mammoth, have about a one-hour cooldown except migration, which pays on a short timer.
  • Instincts are a daily board. The wiki describes 3 random quests, 35 Tracks each, refreshing every 24 hours. A July 2026 tutorial describes the same 24-hour refresh. An October 2025 player post called the refresh hourly. Prefer the 24-hour board unless your own Instinct panel shows a shorter timer.

Survival score still matters. It rises with time alive, distance, and combat, and it multiplies Track gains for animals other than the Columbian Mammoth.

Mission payouts from the compiled table

Neutral:

  • Add an animal to the encyclopedia: 52 Tracks. A player guide said the one-time encyclopedia payout felt closer to 55-60 and that spotting, not killing, filled the entry. If a kill does not fill the page, spot the animal and check the encyclopedia before you assume it is broken.

Carnivore, about one hour:

  • Dwarf Pronghorn 5-6
  • Flat-headed Peccary 5-6
  • Leucistic peccary 51-53
  • Prairie Rattlesnake 8-10 if another player distracted it
  • Western Horse 8-10
  • Ancient Bison 10-12
  • Tar-pit scavenge 5-6
  • Whale carcass 5-6
  • Maintain territory: variable, based on server size, group size, and how much you hold
  • Defend territory 5-7
  • Claim enemy territory 5-6

Herbivore:

  • Eat plants 1-2 per type
  • Spot a carnivore 2-3
  • Mineral lick 2-3
  • Flee a predator 2-3
  • Win a duel 5-6, bison only
  • Knock down a tree 3-4, mammoth only
  • Stay in a migration zone 1-2 every 2 minutes
  • Migration bonus 1-2 every 2 minutes

Instinct examples

The Instinct article says the list is incomplete and will grow as animals are added. Examples it names include drinking at a mineral lick, spotting 5 predators, hunting rabbits, pronghorns, peccaries, a horse, or a bison, catching a turkey vulture, killing a snake without being bitten, surviving 25 minutes, traveling 5 kilometers, visiting 5 landmarks, eating tufted hairgrass, eating 10 plant species, scavenging a tar pit 5 times, escaping tar before you are trapped, picking up a bone, earning Tracks in 5 migration zones, claiming 10 territory hexes, taking territory from a rival 5 times, and winning 3 duels. Treat that as a pool of examples, not today's three quests.

A practical loop

Herbivores can sit the edge of the map, eat distinct plants, and stay inside a migration zone so the two-minute payments stack with the hourly plant list. Carnivores earn more from territory when a group can hold hexes. A solo wolf clearing AI across the whole map is slower than a pack that defends a claim. Dying wipes the survival multiplier you were building, so a long horse life at the edge is a real Track method, not a passive one.

Spending

The published tier ladder is Default free, Tier 1 300, Tier 2 500, Tier 3 1000, and Tier 4 3000. Mutation coats are sometimes listed at 395 or at 3000, so read the coat's own price. Robux Track bundles appear in the shop. The public price pairs were too messy to copy as a rate card. Use the numbers in the Roblox purchase prompt.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ecos: La Brea free?

Yes. The official Free to Play video says the experience became free to play on Roblox on November 22, 2025. Open the Ecos Team game page and press play. Older pages that still say the game costs Robux describe an earlier access period.

Which animals can I play right now?

The Roblox game description names Dire Wolf, Saber-tooth Cat, Ancient Bison, Western Horse, and Columbian Mammoth. Horse and Dire Wolf are the animals used in the published unlock steps for the others. Smilodon, Ancient Bison, and Columbian Mammoth have their own badges. Orcutt's Coyote and Harington's Pony were announced on June 29, 2026 as upcoming playables after the emotes update. October 2026 community clips describe them on testing servers, and a public unlock quest for them was not documented.

Are there working codes?

No code string was confirmed as active for October 2026, and a code-entry button was not confirmed in the game. Tracks, the coat currency, are earned by missions, Instincts, survival, and territory or migration play. Do not enter passwords or payment details into any box that claims to be a code field.

How do I unlock the Saber-tooth Cat, Ancient Bison, and Mammoth?

The Saber-tooth Cat badge is earned by hunting and killing a Peccary. The Ancient Bison badge is earned by marking a predator, which the animal guide describes doing as a Western Horse. The Columbian Mammoth badge is earned by completing the mammoth quest: interact with a mammoth skeleton so fossil zones appear, then collect the fossils in those zones. Video pin lists are examples, because players report the marked spots are not one permanent map.

What are Tracks?

Tracks are the currency used to buy animal coats. The published shop ladder is Default free, Tier 1 at 300, Tier 2 at 500, Tier 3 at 1000, and Tier 4 at 3000. Some mutation coats are listed at other prices, including 395. Repeating carnivore and herbivore missions have about a one-hour cooldown. Territory, migration, and the separate daily Instinct board do not use that same hour lock.
